January 14, 2012 - Winter TT and Group Ride

Hey Gang! Happy New Year! We had a great turnout for our 3rd winter TT. 12 riders lined up for a fabulous no wind/warm start. The lake didn’t have a ripple on it and it showed as everyone set a PR for the year. Heinie showed up at 9 to sweep the course as there were a few patches of road work that needed attention. Thanks so much Heinie! The order of the riders were set nicely as everyone finished within 7 minutes of each other as they pedaled up Eastman Hill for the finish. Would like to wish newcomers to the Winter Series, Deb, Nikki, John Z, Michelle, Ronnie, Mike P and Doan a hearty welcome to the series. Though some are considered regulars, this was their first winter TT.  Thanks also to all the others who came out….Barry, Bruce, Heinie, Louie, and Chris.

October 2, 2011- Melones Mnt. Bike Ride

A fine and friendly group of mtn bike riders turned out for the ride this morning; several looking sharp in their GCC colors. Kyle, Lisa, Adam, Brent, Sherrie, Tom and son Ryan, and yours truly took to the trails on a brilliant Sunday morning. A casual and instructive ride for all concerned. Along the way we crossed paths with Todd, Rhonda and TJ of Tuesday night Time Trial fame. We covered about ten miles of easy riding, broken up by several pauses during which we got a chance to get to know one another and trade tips and tricks concerning mtn biking technique. Brent and Sherrie are new to the trails, but did just fine, got a good workout and had some fun. Young Ryan, just 11 years old and sportin' a GCC jersey just like his old man's, is already an accomplished rider. The weather was perfect and the company even more so. We finished off with some cold drinks and conversation around the cars in the trail-head lot and made promises for another round in the near future. Thanks for comin' out!! It was a swell time. Our hope is to get some momentum going and try to do this on a regular schedule. Watch this board for the announcement of the next date. Bruce

June 26, 2011- American River Ride

We had a great ride on the American River Parkway. Joe, Steve, Lynette, Ronnie, Don, and myself met Herman at his house in Folsolm and off we went. What an awesome bike trail/ride. Of you've ridden this trail you know what I mean and if you haven't, I suggest you try it out! Herman, Joe, Ronnie and Steve did the whole trail while me, Lynette and Don did a 40 mile loop. Joe peeled off to have a stay with his daughter as we had a great BBQ and pool swim at Herman's. Thanks so much Herman for being a wonderful host! And one awesome cook! Thanks to Steve and Lynette for the cherries and beans and thanks to Lisa for making her awesome cabbage/broccoli salad. Check out the pics on our photo gallery page! See you at the TT on Tuesday. Donnie.

TT 06/14/2011

Wow, from 75 degrees to 90 degrees, the heat could be felt tonight.  We had a
great turnout, 19 and going strong - impressive.  With so many people, we have
to thank John Muller and his wife Cindy for timing tonight, it gets interesting
with that many folks out there.  There were some new faces out in the crowd
tonight - we were really glad to see Kecia Bliss-Borean out there as well as
Steve Hollenbeak and Thomas Kruetzfeldt.    We hope that they had a good time.
Let's give a shout out to Donnie who rode after his crash on Saturday, nice
going.  Lynette was a great cheering section after she finished her 4 miles, way
to pump us up.  Mark did his 4 and then rode the long haul home.  Todd G was out
there tonight, great going - he PR'd.  Rhonda Isaman was riding strong in the
heat and has a new time to beat.  We were happy to see Mike Skuce out there
again - hope to see him more.  TJ was back from his mountain bike crash, nice
going.  Steve added some great commentary on the course, his comments are always
welcome.  Louie, Barry, and Heinie challenged each other and kept things
interesting.  Paul B. way to push it and take off some time.  Mike Phelps is
awesome - way to kick it up a notch.  Kyle and Todd - with the 30 second
interval, it sure makes things interesting with the see-sawing.  I want to thank
everyone for coming out tonight.  Just as a reminder, as the summer heats up, be
aware that more trucks with trailers will be out there.  We will do our best to
keep the drivers aware of us while we are out there and you should see some new
signs in the middle of the course so that vehicles are reminded about us.
Stand out in the crowd, wear your GCC colors.

TT 06/07/2011

Hi All,

Tonight was fast.  REALLY, REALLY fast.  While it didn't feel fast, people were
flying out there.  There were 10 PR's tonight, and some people were second(s)
from beating their PR.  There were 15 riders and we had a great group.  We had a
new face out there tonight and while Dale Perry has been around for a long time,
this was his first ride on the new course with the club.  All in all we had a
great group, and we hope to see everyone out there next week.
Ride with buddy, its fun!!!

05/24/2011-Hi everyone.  Great turnout tonight. The temperature was comfortable and the weather was nice. Although there was some headwind, it must have been pushing in both directions since there were a lot of fast times tonight. Craig and Mark
came out for the first time this year, and turned some nice times.  Mark beat
his best time by almost a minute.  Sydney is amazing.  She PR'd tonight, and
after all she's been through - way to go.  Mark and Paul cranked out their 4
miles, those guys don't quit. They ride down to tt's and then ride back home.
Jeff and Steve were out there pushing - impressive.  Lisa, Louie, and Heinie are
always fun to watch, since the boys try to chase down the girl.  And last but
not least - Mike is amazing and fast - we all want to be like Mike.  Also a big
shout out to the timers and cheering section - Donnie, John M., Bruce, Kyle,
Lisa Hawkins, and Don Sr.  Thank you to everyone and we hope to see you next
week.

enjoy the ride

05/10/2011-Wow, what a night.  The weather was perfect and the times were smokin' fast.
Fifteen riders came out and tested themselves, with many people PR'ing left and
right.  The 4-milers are getting fast, if they keep it up they'll finish before
we can get everyone out there.  Way to go.  A couple of new faces out there
tonight we haven't seen in a while.  Kudos to Derek and Reggie.  The Isaman
family came out again, and showed up even stronger than before.  A big congrats
goes out to Heinie, Donnie and Todd - wow.  Jeff, Bruce, Louie, and Mike held
thier own, and kept things interesting.  Overall, it was a fun night and we hope
to see you out there again next week...but...we understand if you happen to skip
it for the Amgen.
I've attached the Best Times from last year also.  Some riders are very close to
smashing there times.  Now to those of you that have gotten a year older and as
of tonight are currently faster than last year Congrats to you, truely amazing.
Ride into the sunset,
Kyle

Wednesday and Thursday Evening Group Rides

Hey gang! We had an excellent ride on Wed. evening as Michelle, Todd, Paul and I headed straight up French Gulch, and on into Greenhorn. Michelle then led us through the gate onto Finnegan Lane which was an awesome little variation and up Gold Cliff Road which turned out to be a suprising test of a climb. We then hit Stanislaus Road out to 49 then on up the Grade Road. Everyone did awesome and Michelle rode very strong and gets stronger each week as does Todd and Paul. Well this is now my favorite loop so on Thursday Evening...... We did the same route! As I came into Black Bart only Steve and Todd were in the lot. I was kind of bummed but realized Bruce and Michelle's vehicles were in the park and Steve was just waiting for me as the others went out to Ironstone. He said there were quite a few riders and when he told me Louie was one of them, I was REALLY bummed! :-) ....I'm just kidding, c'mon I really love the guy! So we picked up Michelle, Louie, Lynette, Bruce, and Mark and as we came back into town ready to head up French Gulch who did we run into? Non other than SYDNEY!!!!! What a great turnout! And I've got to say as I laid back up the first part of French Gulch I became....(sniff)..... a little... (sniff)..... Verklempt! It was so cool seeing everyone pumping away, sitting, (sniff) standing and climbing and I felt so proud (sniffle). Wait a minute! Road bike guys don't cry! Well maybe they do when 'the Cannibal' shares a nod with Marcus at the end of the movie "American Flyers". Anyway, it is so enjoyable to ride in a group and this group did awesome the whole ride. Louie pointed out a few more options we could try and you should have seen Sydney go up Gold Cliff!! Lynette did 100% better than the last time she road. Steve did his usual roadside bike work and got his hands all greasy like he'd been working on an old Studebaker all day. All in all we had a great ride and thanks so much to everyone for coming out. And Bruce and Michelle even kept Debbie and Lawren's tradition of fish tacos at Firewood in their absence! Off to Tahoe to trudge through the snow! WTF! oh well. See you all next week come on out to ride ok. ! Here is a great pic of the group minus Mark as he peeled off for home at the top of the grade. Ride On...Donnie
